The "Eight" type steel descending device with a latch is designed for insurance and descent along a single or double rope in industrial mountaineering and rock climbing. Insurance is provided by creating additional friction during the passage of the rope through the elements of the device. In industrial mountaineering, an eight with a retainer (mustache, horns, fangs) is more often used - a mustache is provided on a larger ring, on which you can tie a rope in two or three loops. Tucking the rope into the "mustache" allows you to further increase the friction during the descent, as well as fix the position.

Benefits:

convenient etching of the rope;
does not twist the rope and through it you can insure both single and double rope;
provides easy descent;
effectively removes heat when descending a rope;
made of steel, which allows to reduce wear and extend the service life;
the enlarged hole allows you to skip the rope with knots.
