Steel rope according to ГОСТ 7668-80 is one of the most common types of ropes. Unlike the rope according to ГОСТ 2688-80, this rope has not 19 but 36 wires in each of the six strands, due to which greater flexibility, elasticity and rope service life are achieved. The rope is characterized by a large supporting surface, increased wear resistance, and a high fill factor. It is used in hoisting mechanisms and hoisting-and-transport machines (cranes, hoists, crane beams, excavators, hoisting units, trawlers, earth-moving machines, mine hoists), as well as for the manufacture of slings. It is advisable to use a rope of steel ГОСТ 7688-80 with strong abrasive wear, aggressive environment, increased loads, high requirements for flexibility.
